Pencil drawing for beginners: horizon line in drawing
At this article of pencil drawing for beginners we talk about horizon line in drawing.
Let's look at the railway rails laid on plain. There the flat surface of the earth is stretched extensively so far as soon as the sight can reach. Everywhere round ourselves we see the sky in the distance converging with the earth and forming there a long straight line. This line is called as horizon.
The ideal example of horizon is a huge reservoir at which it is not visible coast. On the sea the horizon represents an equal and continuous line.
We can consider horizon as a continuous line. It is valid so though any object — a hand, the mountain, a building — can partially or cover its kind completely. And still the horizon remains on the place even if we will enter into the house and we will close behind themselves a door. If the object, a kind covering to us, becomes transparent, we will see horizon. It is represented on the following page below.

Pencil drawing for beginners. How to drawing well
Pencil drawing is the oldest form of fine arts and also plays a major role in other forms of visual art like oil painting and water color. While some may consider a pencil drawing a stage for another grander art work, drawing with a pencil is actually a major form of visual art and even a forte in itself.
Painting or sculpture is understood by many to make up a great part of fine arts, many artists actually still practice drawing as a final work of art. Most, if not all fine artists started with this genre that is why it is considered to be the oldest form of visual expression.
Many may think that drawing or sketching with a pencil is a limited form of visual art as it uses only one medium, that of the pencils lead. That understanding of this form of fine arts is actually a mistake. Pencil drawing may not use many mediums, as, in fact, it only uses one, that of the pencil, but however, there are variations that one must know in order to understand how this wooden stick makes wonders.
Here are some suggestions that how your drawing can be improved:
Experiment on the subject matter. There are infinite possibilities of ones drawing subject. One can draw representations of living things like people, animals or plants. The most common form of drawing, but is sometimes harder to draw are human portraits.
Places, landscapes and sceneries are also very good subject in drawings. Buildings, bridges and other structures are good architectural subjects; which depicts an appropriation of the real object. For highly stylized drawings like cartoons, caricatures and manage, artist subjects are often a creation of ones own imagination. In this kind of subject, the limit sits in ones own mind.
Use different shades and kinds of a pencil. Pencil as a medium can offer a very limited choice of shade. However, using different shades, size and types of lead will give you more ways to contrast your work of art.
There are leads which are lighter than the others, while other kinds are darker in shade and broader in application. One must realize that even the medium of pencil can have many variations, ready to be used and tried for the perfect shade.
Try different kinds of materials. Materials for drawing to come in different sizes, kinds and qualities.
There are papers in newspaper grade that can be used for practice. There are also high quality papers which are relatively expensive and sold in individual sheets. Texture, acidity, hue and strength vary from one type of paper to another.
One can also use different kinds of card boards to hold their drawing which is usually stronger than paper.
Every aspiring artist must understand that pencil is the most common tool in any field of visual art but its use, variation and its result should not be underestimated. Although there are some viewers who appreciate the complexity of colors in an artwork, some also find simple yet exquisite pencil works as appealing.

How to Select the Best Paper For Pencil Drawing
Top quality, acid-free paper is essential if you want the best drawing results. Standard drawing paper has a poor-quality surface, and lacks the qualities needed to allow rich tonal development. Everyday papers also tend to have acidic qualities, which means they will yellow and/or discolor over time. (Think of old newspapers as an example - they turn yellow and discolor.)
The surface of the paper is going to be one of your most important choices. Most drawing surfaces have a slight texture, or "tooth" to them. These are usually known as vellum surfaces.
Drawing paper is also available with an extremely smooth surface, which would be known as a plate surface. You can purchase drawing paper as actual paper, or in heavier weights known as bristol board. A sheet of bristol is heavy enough that both sides have suitable drawing surfaces. There are also illustration boards - these are heavier still, though only one side is suitable as a drawing surface.
As a general rule, most artists using pencil, charcoal or pastel will prefer the vellum surface. The texture in the paper provides some friction to the media applied, and thus allows for a greater range of effects. Smooth or plate surface paper is usually preferred by pen & ink artists as very clean lines can be achieved with such a surface. For myself, I prefer a bristol surface when drawing "living" subjects such as people or horse or dog drawings. I like the plate surface for more mechanical subject such as aviation drawings or historic home portraits.
In addition to the weight or thickness of the paper, you will want to consider brightness. Drawing papers come in a range of "whites." Some are soft white and have an antique appearance. Others are off-white. My favorites are the brighter whites, as I feel I can obtain the greatest range of shadows on these papers.
For years my paper of choice has been the drawing paper is Strathmore 500. It's bright white surface and acid-free/archival properties make it a superb choice for pencil drawing. Strathmore 500 is available in paper weight, bristol board and illustration board. I also like this paper as it is available in large sheets - up to 30″x40." My top two suppliers for this paper are DickBlick.com and UtrechtArt.com.
